Lay flat books refers to photo books that have special binding that allows their pages to lie flat when the book is open, unlike typical books which have pages that bow into a gutter that runs down the center of the spread.
Beware however, not all lay-flat books are made equally! There are some books that lie flat because the individual pages are hinged at the spine. This allows them to lie flat, but there is still a visible gap between the pages along the center seam.
AdoramaPix lay-flat books use the Leporello binding system. Each two-page spread is folded into a V and glued back to back with the previous and following spread. In this manner every spread is an uncut sheet of professional quality photo paper that lies flat with no gutter, and no cut or separation between the pages.
Our process also makes the book far more durable because unlike the other style of lay-flat book which is only held to the spine by the sliver of the page attached to the hinge, on an AdoramaPix book 99% of the back of each spread is fused to the adjacent spreads making it impossible for pages to come loose or fall out over time.
AdoramaPix photo books - the perfect marriage of beauty and durability.
