Upload your books in PDF format!

For those that prefer to create their books offline using their own software, PixPublisher now supports the ability to upload your books to us in PDF format. We will read the PDF on our end, extract the pages or spreads and import them into the editor for you.

Al Escudero November 07, 2012 22 FAQ / Photo Books & Calendars

Some AdoramaPix customers feel more comfortable using Photoshop than our own PixPublisher book editing tool. Unfortunately, Photoshop users often had to guess at the width of the safe region, or spine on a particular book size.

To make their editing job easier, we have created a suite of PSD templates that contain snap-guides for the safe regions, spine edges, etc. This way you can feel confident that the layout you are creating will be a perfect fit for the book you ordered.

Depending on the number of pages in your book, the thickness of the spine will vary. For this reason there are seven versions of the cover PSD available. Please click on the appropriate link in the table below to download the template for the spreads or covers for the book size you require.

icon_info.jpg All templates are provided in PSD format. A layer has been added that spells out what the different regions are (safe area, etc. just hide or delete this layer before printing)

icon_info.jpg In our PixPublisher editor in the general category we have a template made for photoshop users called pre-constructed. This template is filled with full spread photo placeholders for the cover and all interior spreads. Those of you that make your spreads in PS can then save them as jpg or TIFF files, import them into pixpublisher with the pre-constructed template, and use auto-fill to assemble your book.

icon_info.jpgIf the guides aren't showing up when you open the file, please make sure you have guides enabled (as shown below)ps_guides.jpg

We've made a number of improvements lately, we'd like to let you know about some of the recent ones.

1. New, larger embed sizes.

People wanting to proof their books to clients on their own website now have the option of embed sizes up to 1200px in size.

2. Toolbar Pinning

Tired of having the options toolbar in your way? Drag it to the edge of the screen and click the little pin in the corner to make it stay there.

3. Shortcuts to Aperture, iPhoto and Lightroom plugins.

Those of you that use these tools will find a new option on the import screen called Export from Software. On it you'll find buttons that take you tot he download pages for those plugins.

4. Add pages anywhere in your book.

If you're building a leatherLux book and you want to add or remove a couple of pages, it no longer adds or removes them from the end. If you add pagesm, it inserts them right after your currently selected page. If you remove pages, it removes them starting at your currently selected page. This way you can add or remove pages anywhere in your book.

5. New Mobile Apps.

We've added an app to view shared photo books online on your iPad, as well as apps for the iPhone and Android that allow you to upload photos to your AdoramaPix galleries.

6. Importing from Instagram.

Like Instagram? So do we. So much so that we added an option in PixPublisher's import menu to import your Instagram images directly. We also added two new square print sizes (8x8 and 4x4) for your instagramming needs!

7. Paid accounts have no limit on file size.

The 60MB maximum file size on uploaded photos has been waived on paid accounts. In other words, in addition to unlimited storage space, you can now send us those enormous TIF files you've been holding back on :)
