Object properties window

For some projects it is sufficient to simply 'eyeball' your measurements. i.e. if it looks centered it's good enough. For other projects, our clients demand no less than perfection. In those cases, it is sometimes necessary to put objects in precise positions on the page and at precise sizes or angles. This is where the object properties window comes in handy.

If you pull-down the view menu on the green bar above the workspace, the last option on the list will be Properties. Select that option to open a small pop-up that displays the spatial properties of whatever object you have selected.

Thus If you want a photo to be exactly 400x600 pixels in size and positioned at x:200, y:400 on the page, open the info window to see the current settings for the object. You can then click inside any of the input boxes (or use the arrows) to change the values.

icon_info.jpg If you click in one of the input boxes and type a new value, you need to hit the ENTER key for the new value to be accepted.

icon_warning.jpg If you manually chance the width of a photo without changing the height, or vise versa, the image will be distorted. PixPublisher will not automatically change the other value in order to maintain the correct aspect ratio, nor will it re-crop the image to fit within the new size. In other words, if you manually increase the width of a photo by 10% you had better change the height by 10% too or it won't look right.
