The project workspace is the grey area upon which your photo book or calendar is displayed (The area outlined in red below). All of the actual editing of your project takes place on the workspace.

Clicking on the gray portion of the workspace surrounding your project will cause the toolbox above the workspace to change to the Project Settings. These are global settings that affect your project as a whole. Clicking on the workspace is the only way to access the project settings.  If you are unable to see the workspace because your project is filling the viewable area, you will need to shrink your project by using the zoom slider on the Workspace Controls until the workspace becomes visible.

If you zoom in on your project until the workspace is no longer visible, sliders will appear along the left and/or bottom borders of the workspace. These sliders will allow you to scroll your project within the viewable area.

This is usually desirable because they wouldn’t be visible in your printed book. If for some reason you need to see the portions of objects that extend beyond the edges of the book there is a setting in the project settings called Desktop Mask. Turning that setting off will allow objects to become visible on the workspace.
